A-Level Chemistry is the subject where the gap between “I understand this” and “I can score this” is widest. Students arrive at the exam having genuinely learned the content and still come out with a grade below what they’re capable of, because nobody explicitly taught them how the marks are awarded.
I teach A-Level Chemistry full-time at one of London’s top-performing sixth-form colleges, to a cohort where an A is the expectation rather than the aspiration and students are heading for medicine, dentistry, engineering and Oxbridge. Teaching at that end of the distribution every day is a specific skill, and it’s the one most families around here are looking for.
That doesn’t mean you need to be near the top to work with me. The tools that get a strong student their A*, structure, precision and knowing exactly what a mark scheme wants, are the same tools that move a struggling student up two grades. Only the starting point changes, and the first job is always working out which one we’re doing.
My subject knowledge goes well beyond the specification: I hold an MSc (Hons) in Chemistry from Imperial College London, so the harder conceptual questions get a real answer rather than a deflection.

The boards differ more than students realise, in how questions are worded, how the required practicals are assessed, and where the marks sit. Tuition is targeted at the specification your school actually enters you for. Those are my main specialisms, but I work regularly with Cambridge International and Edexcel IGCSE as well. Whichever board your school enters you for, sessions are targeted at that specification.
